The Sacred Pause: What Retrograde Season Wants Us to See
Why things feel slow, stuck, and unclear and how the divine feminine teaches us to trust the timing of our becoming.
There are seasons when the fire fades, when our feet feel heavy, and clarity becomes a fog that refuses to lift. These are not the bright beginnings or the triumphant endings. These are the in-between places. The pauses. The waiting rooms of the soul.
And right now, the cosmos is reflecting that very energy.
We are in a retrograde season, a collective slowdown. Mercury, Saturn, Neptune, Pluto, and Chiron are all moving in reverse motion. And while astrology doesn’t control us, it mirrors us. It reminds us that growth isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s hidden. Sometimes it whispers in stillness.
Retrograde isn’t punishment.
It’s a sacred invitation.
A divine course correction.
A soft undoing.
What Retrograde Really Means
In astrology, retrograde motion is an optical illusion; planets appear to move backward in the sky. But symbolically, it represents a reversal of energy. Things turn inward. Old wounds resurface. Patterns are revealed. Communication slows. Boundaries are tested. Dreams feel delayed. Plans don’t go as expected.
Each planet teaches us something different during this time:
Mercury Retrograde in Leo (July 5 – August 11): Revisiting how we communicate, speak our truth, and manage our mental chatter.
Saturn Retrograde (June 29 – November 27): Deep lessons in boundaries, self-discipline, and karmic responsibility.
Neptune Retrograde (July 2 – December 10):** Lifting illusions. Calling us to question fantasies, escapism, and ungrounded dreams.
Pluto Retrograde (May 2 – October 13): Transformation beneath the surface. The unraveling of power dynamics, ego, and shadow.
Chiron Retrograde (July 30 – January 2): Reopening the wounds we’ve ignored, inviting radical self-compassion and soul-level healing.
This is not the time to force forward motion. It’s a time to listen to what’s being shown to you beneath the surface.
The Divine Feminine Knows How to Wait
In our productivity-driven world, waiting feels like failure. We crave progress, clarity, and resolution. But the divine feminine path teaches us something different:
That waiting is sacred.
That darkness is fertile.
That stillness is not the absence of movement, but the presence of listening.
Like the Cave, the Womb, the Moon, the divine feminine honors the space between what was and what will be. She does not rush the bloom. She trusts the soil to do its silent work.
So if you’re in a pause, a delay, a “not yet,” you’re not off path. You’re in the part of the cycle that most people skip: the root work.
What Is Life Showing You in the Pause?
Personally, I’ve had to face some uncomfortable truths lately, habits that drain me, relationships that no longer feel reciprocal, and the ways I sabotage my own ease. Retrograde season has felt like a slow unraveling of stories I thought were still serving me.
But here’s what I’m learning:
You can’t receive the new if your hands are full of the old.
And sometimes the only way the universe can get you to let go is by… slowing everything down.
One of my favorite forms of leisure is journaling.
Journaling during this season is a powerful way to reflect on what needs change, what shadows are holding you back, and what stories are still on repeat. So here is a journal prompt to help you unravel the parts of yourself that feel stuck, cyclical, or in retrograde:
🌕 What have I been avoiding that is now demanding my attention?
🌒 Where am I being asked to surrender control?
🌘 What version of me is ready to be released so the true me can rise?
Let your answers unfold naturally. They may come slowly, or not all at once. That’s okay. You’re not meant to rush your clarity.
💫 You’re Exactly Where You’re Meant to Be
If things feel stuck, slow, or uncertain, take a breath. The Sacred Pause is not the end of the story. It’s the space between chapters. The part where the seeds sprout underground.
Trust that you are being rearranged, rewired, and refined. Trust that what’s meant for you is not behind, it’s ahead, waiting for you to become who you need to be to hold it.
You are not being left behind.
You are being brought back to yourself.
Affirmation: I trust divine timing. I surrender to the pause. I allow the waiting to shape me.
“Stillness is not the absence of movement but the presence of listening.” So powerful. Thank you for this Dafny.
